Sunday morning is usually daddy’s ritual to make pancakes, it is baby Haileys favorite! This morning I place her plate of cakes on her high chair and added syrup for the first time. Hailey usually eats with her fingers and the syrup is so messy i dont give it to her. I fed her the first bite with a fork to see if she noticed the difference. Sure enough her face lit up as she says hmmmmm! I put the fork on the counter, and Brad and I began to dig into ours. She just sat watching and would not pick up her pancakes? She is the queen of food and especially pancakes, I was confused why she was refusing to eat them? She was looking at the fork I put on the counter and although her vocabulary couldnt put together “mommy give me the fork” , i could sense thats what she wanted. I laughed to my self, and said “Hailey your just a baby, you dont know how to use a fork”! (She has never even held a fork let a lone try to feed herself). Sure enough she picked up the fork in her right hand jabbed a piece of fluffy cake and aimed for her mouth! I was in shock she was refusing to eat with her fingers and wanted to use a fork like mommy and daddy! She fed herself with a fork eating the rest of her breakfast. I of course had to get this on camera, what an exciting accomplishment. This is why i love being a mother, its at moments like this that are so special. My little angel is smarter than i thought! Just when I think I have her figured out she knocks me down with a suprise. Thats my baby!!

The entire fam is just getting over a cold. Yep, all of us got miserably sick including baby Hailey. Foruntately I think she also got over it faster than mom and dad though and we’re all starting to feel a lot better.
Baby Hailey is getting up and walking all over the place now. She went from just taking a few short steps and falling down to full on walking, turning corners…the whole bit. And she’s doing it often and right in front of us, she was shy before and would only trying walking when she thought we couldn’t see her. Now she’s a regular pro.
On the flip side, baby Hailey is also starting a phase we all know as the terrible two’s. She’s getting really whiney lately over nothing it seems. Though, she does still have a few new teeth coming in, so I’m sure that doesn’t feel to good. But she is getting really fussy about certain things, like going to bed for instance, she cries louder and longer than she used to. And riding in the car just yesterday on the way to and from church she really let us have it. Hope that’s a quick phase!

What has happened to my sweet little girl it seems as though she has turned into a monster! What a little terror! i knew this would be coming…..the terrible twos, it just seemed to have snuck in the back door and crept up on me.
My baby hailey new favoriate thing to do is hit, bite, pinch….need i go on? She is developing a mind of her own and will not back down. She cant verbally say the word “no” but she shakes her head from side to side, a mile a minute and i get the message. (And at what stage will she learn yes mommy, i love you too? ) Besides the cattiness, she is easily frustrated. If she cant figure out how to fasten a clasp or if she cant get the page of her book to turn the first time, she whales in aggony! She also is whinning alot? Could this be yet another wonderul attribute to the terrible two’s?? She did pick up my cold i currently have and i think she may be breaking another pearly white, so tricky this all becomes. How will i decifer between all these symptoms? Our pediatrition tells us to just ignore her when she has a tantrum. Easy to say but what if your in public, like i was the other day in target (trying to buy her clothes). I gave her an opprotunity to sit like a nice girl and she wanted to stand up in the cart instead, so i attempted to buckle her in when she basically sets off “the hailey fire alarm”. So i picked her up leaving behind items in the shopping cart and made a hit for the car. Did ahe actually learn anything from that? We keep her on a pretty regular schedule and make sure she gets plenty of sleep and good meals. First time parenting is a job in its self. A job with trail and error, hopefully by abby’s time we will be “parenting” with our eyes closed!! Untill then stay posted, im sure there will be more to come!
And Happy Mothers Day To all you wonderful mammas! A touch of your love makes our kids grow strong! Bless you and your family. Warmly ,
Baby Haileys mom
