I needed some shots for a story I’m working on for my blog about the surfing competition, so we decided to head off to the beach for a family day. Baby Hailey got to sport her new Surfer Baby hat, finally one she didn’t just rip off! She tried at first, but once she spotted herself in the mirror she stopped messing with it. Guess she just had to realize how cute she was with it on!
The beach was crowded so we didn’t stay long. Hailey wasted no time in getting into the sand and was having a ball watching all the people walking by and all the commotion from the competition. I tried to take her down to the waters edge for a dip, but she wasn’t having any of it. We started getting close and she went from casually hanging on my shoulder to clinging for dear life. Hiding her head behind my back she barely even wanted to look at the ocean. Guess it can be intimidating for a little one. Once I promised her she wouldn’t have to go in and started turning back she relaxed and started pointing at the water with her baby babble at full throttle. I figured she was over the fear and wanted to check it out, I was wrong. I took one step back in the direction of the water and she went back to hiding behind me!

I think she just missed momma and wanted to go back and hang out at the blanket.

Hehe, we’re probably going to lean more toward the pool for the next water adventure but you are welcome to join us! Hailey was a little scared of going into the ocean so she didn’t get to use her inflatable car. She’ll get in the pool.
