I have been trying to do some reading on how to make hailey have an easy transition for when baby Abby comes home. We will be moving a month after Abby is born to a new house, and Haliey will be getting a new room, and her very own ” BIG girl bed”. I dont want her to feel like she is getting the boot from her safe familiar cozy little crib just because the new baby needs it. I have read that it is best to make this transition 6 weeks before the new addition comes, but i feel this is to soon being Hailey is olny 16 months. I dont want to rush her out of being a baby just because Abby is coming. I wish she could stay my little baby forever! Soon enough she will be driving, dating and will be too cool for her mamma!
Also, i have been trying to get her use to holding her own baby doll. I show her how to feed her doll a bottle and rub its head, saying nice baby. She looses interest after a few minutes and tosses the baby to the floor laughing! Hailey is also in the hitting stage, and she has a pretty mean hook!! I am a little nervous just because i have heard do many horror stories about siblings trying to hurt the new baby.
I will definitley have my work cut out for me because they will be so close in age, but these are my girls and it will be worth it. Everyone has their own take on things to do or not do. I think i will just play things by ear and see how Hailey responds. I can read her pretty well, and i will adjust Abby and i so that she feels as comfortable and special as before. Say a prayer for us! One month to go!! The count down begins!!

What is an appropriate bed time for a 16 month old? Hailey used to go to bed at 7:00, but latley we have been letting her stay up to 9:00. It is nice because we get to spend more time with her. But when its time to finally put her to be she puts up a bigger fight and cries for much longer in her crib. In the morning i have to rub her back to wake her up, while normally she would already be awake playing. She also seems to be more cranky when i pick her up from school, she is also teething so its hard to tell if its sleep or just agony from her teeth. Tonight brad put her down at her old bed time and she was asleep with out a big fuss. i miss the exta time with her playing and chasing her around the house, her little laugh is to die for! We’ll see if her mood is better when i pick her up tomorrow!

Abigale is going to be moving into her new room soon (due August) and we have to move Hailey to the bigger room and get her and Abby’s rooms ready. With that in mind, Hailey still doesn’t like going to bed at night. With her being as rambunctious as she is, I can see her climbing out of a bed and trying to make an escape from her room. She’ll be walking soon, she’s taking a few steps now, and I figured when she was old enough to walk she’d be old enough for a toddler bed with side rails.
What age did you take your kids out of the crib and put them into a bed? Right now when I put Hailey to bed in the crib she’ll stand up as soon as I plop her in and shove her hands up at me that just screams ‘please daddy don’t make me go to bed’. Breaks my heart every time, but anyway back to the point. If she’s in a bed, she’ll be crawling out between my legs before I can get the bedroom door closed. No really, she’s quick! Haha, so when do you guys think is a good age to graduate to a bed? Are we rushing a bit?
